Pest Control 101 > Silverfish |
|||
SilverfishPopulations of silverfish may be found outside your home during the summer months. During this time, spray outside around the perimeter of your house to prevent the silverfish from moving in.A good residual insecticide such as Suspend SC is very effective on silverfish. This product will lay on the surface of treated areas so that the silverfish will pick it up as they walk around. This spray will also deter roaches, ants, and spiders from invading your home. Silverfish are small primitive insects that once inside often settle in your attic. Attics usually have all kinds of food for them. They love to feed on boxes, books, clothing, and some types of insulation. To eliminate silverfish in the attic, use Drione Dust. This dust comes in a one pound bottle and you simply walk around in your attic squeezing the bottle to expel the dust. It is a good idea to wear a dust mask during this process. If the attic is left untreated, as the weather turns colder, the silverfish often move to the warmer living spaces below. If this happens, you need to spray indoors with the Suspend SC. Pay particular attention to the crown moulding at the top of the rooms and behind furniture. When you're ready to spray for silverfish, dilute the Suspend SC in a Pump Sprayer according to the label. Whether indoors or outdoors, Suspend SC should be sprayed once every 3 weeks for 9 weeks total. These 3 sprayings spread over the 9 weeks insures that the lifecycle of the insect is completely broken and that they won't reappear. |
