Pest Control and Safety

We are often told by customers that they are concerned about the safety of storing and using pest control products to do their own pest control. They worry that their children and pets may be harmed. Let me start by saying that we understand these concerns and have our own families and pets.

Modern pest control products are far less risky to use than in the past. Many of the hazards common in the past have been eliminated through better engineering to reduce or eliminate risks to people and pets. The goal is simply to kill the bugs, yet not harm people or pets.

For example, the Maxforce ant and roach bait gels can be eaten by people or pets and have no adverse effects. This is because they have been engineered to only work on insects. People, pets, and wildlife are not affected.

The pest control industry has come a long way in recent years. With the right product and by following the label instructions, modern pesticides are now safer AND more effective.

We still strongly recommend storing all pest control products as you would any household cleaning product, in a cabinet and out of the reach of children and pets.

We also recommend using gloves and safety glasses when mixing or applying concentrated solutions in enclosed spaces. Use of a dust mask when applying dust in an attic is also a good idea. These items are commonly found at your local home improvement store.
