Pest Control 101 > Geese

Geese

These birds are nice to watch fly overhead or see swimming in a lake, but they can do a lot of damage to your plants and landscape. They can also be noisy at times.

Their droppings are large and unsightly, plus they can breed parasites like mites and lice.

If you have flocks of geese landing on fields, lawns, or any area you don't want them to be on, you need to start bird control immediately or risk having the problem escalate to levels which are harder to control. Especially, after they establish nests.

If birds are eating large grassy areas like Canadian Geese or certain ducks will do, use Ropel Animal Repellent. This liquid repellent tastes bad to geese. It will keep geese and other birds from chewing on treated areas. We offer a small spray bottle that you can use directly or for larger areas simply pour the Ropel liquid into a Pump Sprayer to spray it on.

Don't spray Ropel on any fruit or vegetables you intend on eating, however, because the bitter taste will make the harvest useless.

You may spray the plant stems, stalks, and leaves as the plant develops without the taste getting to the fruit. This could prove a big help when dealing with geese that like to eat young plants that haven't produced a crop yet.
